Ronald L. , Blocker . Obituary


Ronald L. “Butch” Blocker, 71, of 601 Grist Mill Rd., Lehighton, passed away July 4th at his residence. He was the husband of Dawn L. DeReamer Blocker. They were married for 37 years on April 7, 2010. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Elmer & Ella Bryfogle Blocker. He was a graduate of Lehighton Area High School and later served our country with the US National Guard. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Blocker Bros. Garage for over 40 years. An avid farmer, his lifelong love was farming and spending time with his family where he assisted them with the family excavating business. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton where he served actively as a volunteer. He was a Life member of Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club, and was an active member of The “Table of Knowledge Club” at McDonalds Rt. 443, Lehighton. Butch also served the City of Bethlehem as a volunteer at New Bethany Ministries Soup Kitchen. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Melissa ‘Missy” Blocker and her companion Paul Johnston of Lehighton, 1 stepdaughter Kimberly wife of David Hinkle of Weatherly, 3 brothers, Willard and his wife Margaret, Earnest , and Ellwood and his wife Mary Ann all of Lehighton,1 granddaughter Elise Johnston, 8 stepgrand-children, Megan, Lindsey, Daniel, Nicole, Brittany, Ethan, Joel & Tanner Hinkle,Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Charlotte Solt, Thelma Miller, Matrona Smith and 2 brothers, Donald & Richard. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3rd & Iron St., Lehighton with the Rev. Robert A. Von Frisch officiating. Call 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thurs. at the church. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the church at 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton Pa. 18235 Online condolences may be offered at www.ovsakfh.com
